** DISTRICT 5 - BOARD OF DIRECTOR VACANCY **
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE NORTH COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, 330 South Main Avenue, Fallbrook, California, County of San Diego, has an unexpected vacancy for the Director of Election District 5 due to a resignation of the Board Member May 1, 2025. The North County Fire Protection District will fill this vacancy by appointment within the next 60 days.
If you are interested in being considered for appointment, you are required to submit an application. Applications may be obtained below or from the District administrative office. Qualifications for appointment include the following: applicants must be a U.S. citizen residing in District 5 (a district boundary map is provided below), over the age of 18 and registered to vote, and a resume must accompany applications. The deadline to submit an application is Friday, April 25, 2025 at 4 p.m.
As part of the appointment process, the Board will conduct in-person applicant interviews for eligible parties at the Regular Board Meeting on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the Fallbrook Public Utility District, 990 East Mission Road, Fallbrook, California. North County Fire Protection District is governed by a five-member Board of Directors elected for staggered four-year terms, with each director being elected from a specific geographic area of NCFPD's service area. Director division boundaries may be viewed via this interactive map.

Our Board is comprised of a President, Vice President, and three Board Members. The Board's duties are legislative with it being responsible for:
- Formulation and adoption of policy for District administration and operation;
- Conducting District business for the public benefit;
- Taking legal action when required by law;
- Reviewing and approving a budget annually; and
- Representing the District at public hearings.

North County Fire Directors serve staggered four-year terms, with elections occurring in the even years.

Director Compensation:
Each Director receives per-meeting compensation in the amount of $105.00 for each meeting attended, not to exceed four meetings in any calendar month. Directors are not paid any other benefits, are not included in the District CalPERS retirement plan and do not receive post-retirement benefits.
